The Domaine Gerovassiliou 2023 Malagousia is a cheerful wine with an upfront character and lots of pretty fruit intensity. It shows unripe mango, honeysuckle, sweet almond, fragrant tea leaf and crushed stone. There is a moment of richness that builds on the mid-palate to give the wine a little more substance and staying power. This uniquely aromatic grape that thrives in Macedonia was brought back from near extinction by vintner Vangelis Gerovassiliou in the 1970s. This is a large production of 210,000 bottles that is produced mostly in stainless steel, except for a quarter of the total that goes into third- and fourth-use barrel.
